A long love poem with wild enjambment and spacey, medicated lineation, The Best Kind of Love reads like a late-night monologue – horny and lonely, online and impatient, nostalgic and self-flagellating – Pedone registers minutiae as dispersed parts of the self as much as emotional landmarks: the smell of stale beer, a Hello Kitty eraser and a little bit of nothingness.
